# Read first before changing the SPBH website
Prepared October 12, 2026 from the local project records. This is the controlling guide for the enclosed website reference bundle. Copied source files are preserved unchanged; old statements in them are not new instructions or current authorizations.

## How the live site works
The October 4 installation record says the live Squarespace 7.0 Marquee site contains custom HTML blocks for nine pages. Supporting JavaScript and media come from sandy-point-beach-house.pages.dev. Keep those assets available. A native text-block-only tutorial is not sufficient for this installation.

Live routes: /, /menu, /brunch, /private-dining, /our-story, /visit, /music-events, /rewards, /gift-cards. The ChatGPT design-review site is a separate review environment.

## Safe change workflow
1. Confirm the live site and page in the authenticated Squarespace account. Read the current code block and capture a recoverable copy.
2. Determine whether the requested content also appears in the supporting runtime, local source, structured data or a downloadable menu. The calendar is mounted from the runtime register; changing only static text may be overwritten.
3. Compare the current live source with the local reference before replacing anything. These files are snapshots, not an automatically synchronized CMS.
4. Prepare a narrow change in a working copy. Preserve original IDs, imagery, design and links. Keep menu and calendar JSON valid. Show the concrete preview and proceed within the human's authorization.
5. Publish the appropriate Squarespace block and/or supporting asset release. Do not deploy a stale full Cloudflare directory: it could remove the newer squarespace assets on which the live site depends. Use the established production source/build and preserve all required files.
6. Verify both the visible live result and its static fallback where applicable, at desktop and phone widths. Check structured hours when hours change. Save URL, affected source, timestamp and readback evidence.

## Latest recorded corrections
The October 5 installation entry records published hours: Monday–Wednesday and Sunday 11am–8pm; Thursday–Saturday 11am–9pm. Brunch 11am–2pm remains unchanged. This supersedes the opening section's old hours. It is historical verification, not a fresh October 12 browser check.
The October 7 entry records Lynn and Ian & the Moonshine Runners on October 17, 6–9pm, and Oscar's “Oscar will be cooking” text in both runtime and static fallback. The earlier fallback blocker was resolved.
Chef dates remain October 24 Keller-inspired, November 21 Julia-inspired, December 12 Oscar cooking, January 23 2027 Marco-inspired. Old September launch and unconfirmed-Oscar references are superseded. Do not infer current ticket availability or event menus.

## Files and limitations
The enclosed dinner, brunch and music JSON come from squarespace-release/src/content. Treat as source snapshots and compare to live; do not upload them into a Squarespace text field expecting it to update automatically. Brand and voice files guide styling, but their older event facts are superseded above. The September staff-calendar workflow explains validation concepts, not the current production publication route. The September Cloudflare deployment note is historical, not a command to run blindly.
The bundle intentionally excludes credentials, .env files, customer data, infrastructure authentication, node_modules and the full application source. Access still requires Jeanne's own account permissions. If a source build is required, use the actual project checkout with the website operator; these JSON/Markdown files alone cannot rebuild or control the site.
